The Ice Princess
by Thomas E. Suta
Written for an international competition, this piece took third place. The instrumentation was specific as far as being a mallet ensemble with limited, to no, non tonal percussion. Although, I've done several pieces for percussion ensemble with narration, I was glad to know that there are those in the field that embrace the possibilities of the theatre aspect of percussion. It has been performed numerous times, including a youth ballet company that created a dance to go with the music
